Being off balance becomes a problem when children attempt to control turning on a two wheeler because the balance requirements are completely the opposite from riding with training wheels. Hmm? Little Story - Our 18 month old little grandson received a balance bike as a gift and started riding it at about 12 months. It was unbelievale how quickly he became confident in turning corners, slowing down and coming to stop on a dime! It also helped his balance as he was learning to walk. At 18 months, he has total and complete control and acts like he's been riding his bike for like, well, 18 months! With his feet always touching the ground, it is completely stable and he has complete control. We make sure the path is clear and safe, and off he goes - he scoots and squeals with laughter as he breezes by on our vintage walnut wood floors - not a singl mark on them.
